A free prayer times app for Android. Home screen widgets that follow you when you travel, reminders for every prayer, and all seven times, including Syuruk. No ads, no account, and your location never leaves your phone.

Your location stays in your browser. It's matched against zone boundaries right here, and only your zone's timetable is downloaded.
What it does
- Widgets that update themselves. Several styles, light and dark. They refresh in the background, and when you travel into a new zone, they switch to it on their own. No opening the app at the start of each month.
- All seven times. Imsak, Fajr, Syuruk, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha, with the current one highlighted. Syuruk tells you when the time for Fajr ends.
- Reminders when each prayer time begins.
- A Qibla compass.
- Works offline. Timetables are kept on your phone for weeks ahead.
- Works in many countries. Official timetables for nine countries, and calculated times everywhere else.
- Free, with no ads and no account. The code is public on GitHub.
Where the times come from
Wherever there's an official timetable, simplesolat uses it, taken from each country's religious authority:

Everywhere else, the app calculates the times on your phone, using the method that's usual for your region. Zone boundaries come from geoBoundaries.
Privacy
simplesolat works out your prayer zone on your phone, by checking your location against zone boundaries it has downloaded. Your location is never sent anywhere. The only thing the app asks a server for is the timetable for your zone.

Help
Reminders arrive late, or not at all
Many Android phones stop apps running in the background to save battery, which delays reminders and widget updates. Set simplesolat's battery usage to Unrestricted (usually under Settings › Apps › simplesolat › Battery), and allow Alarms & reminders if your phone asks. The exact steps differ by brand; Don't kill my app! has a guide for each one.
The widget isn't updating
It's usually the same battery setting as above. Widgets refresh in the background about every 15 minutes, and when a prayer time begins.
It shows the wrong zone
Check that location is turned on and allowed for simplesolat. The zone is worked out from your location, so a rough or old location can land you in a neighbouring zone.
The times are slightly different from my mosque
Where there's an official timetable, the app uses it exactly. Local mosques sometimes adjust by a minute or two. Outside those nine countries, times are calculated, and can differ a little from local practice.
